The house has been in the family for over 40 years and has been home to tourists often. All kinds of food, transport and activities can be arranged upon request. Your host's English is limited, but sufficient.

A nice and well-kept home in a residential area of Dodanduwa, House Shoba is a great place for a small group to bunk down and enjoy Sri Lanka's Southern coast. Three double rooms share a bathroom, a kitchen and a living room. It has a big garden full of fruit trees.
Dodanduwa is just south of Hikkaduwa, one of Sri Lanka's most popular beaches. With the sea in front and the Rathgama Lake in the back, there's plenty of things to do and see here, such as paying a visit to the Maya Viharaya Temple or taking a peek at the elusive Polgasduwa Island, home to a Buddhist monastery.
House Shoba itself is located just 150 metres from Dodanduwa town, close to Hikkaduwa beach.

As a family of six with children between 4 and 12, the Shoba house was a perfect fit for us. The most wonderful beach of Dodonduwa just on the other side of the street was never crowded, just a few other tourists, some locals and of course the lovely fishermen, who invited us on a boat trip. The house itself, yard (playground included), and kitchen were clean and well equipped with everything we needed. The most special thing about this place though might be the host. Shrinith and his family (who stay next door and run a preschool) will make you feel very welcome and care for you. Shrinith took us to a lot of places of interest (turtle farm, Buddha shrines, Tsunami memorial places and museum, local craft studio ) in his TukTuk. Dodonduwa is a nice little town just outside the very touristy Hikkaduwa. So, all the restaurants, gift shops are a 10 min TukTuk - ride away, but in Dodonduwa you can still experience authentic life.

Idealne miejsce do poznania kultury i ?ycia lokalnych mieszka?cow. Shrinith to organizator interesuj?cych wycieczek, z przyjacielem kierowc? zabior? Was w najciekawsze miejsca Sri Lanki. ?ona gospodarza to fantastyczna kucharka, ktora za małe pieni?dze przygotuje Wam lokalne jedzenie. Do pi?knej pla?y jest około 5 minut, targ ryby, gdzie rybacy sprzedaj? ?wie?e ryby około 10 minut. Perfect house, great location and beautiful beach - the best choice we could did! We were group of six people (all friends) and we had a very beautiful stay here. Close to the beach - nobody there = just for us!, few minutes by bus to the centre of Hikaduwa, where is lots of restaurants, shops and possibilities to do wattesports or manage trips to other locations. House was very clean and spacious with hot watter and furnished kitchen. Shrinith was very helpful, he gave us a lot of information about the location and advices, how to get to other places - what we can use, how to be careful. Next to the house is an preschool and primary school - which started around 8am. It can be a little bit noisy, but who want to sleep until lunch on holiday? :) When we come again, we will definitely come back to the Shrinith's house.
